Laser Technology

Bring comfort and ease to your pet's surgical journey.

Laser Technology at Lyon Veterinary Clinic, South Lyon

At Lyon Veterinary Clinic, we offer advanced laser technology as a safer and more effective alternative to traditional surgical methods for your pet. This innovative technique uses water within the tissue to cut and cauterize, resulting in less pain, bleeding, and swelling, and a lower risk of infection. Moreover, it leads to faster recovery times compared to traditional surgery.

Small Animal Laser Surgery

Laser surgery is suitable for most routine surgeries and allows us to perform procedures that may not be feasible with traditional methods due to the location in the body or the risk of bleeding. Additionally, laser surgery reduces anesthetic time, as there is minimal bleeding during the operation. Therefore, we always use laser technology for mass removals and airway procedures.

One procedure where laser technology provides significant benefits is nares ablation for dogs and cats with abnormally small external nasal openings. This procedure involves removing a small amount of nasal tissue that obstructs the airway, resulting in better breathing, reduced respiratory noise, and a better night's sleep for both pets and owners. The procedure is typically performed during spay/neuter surgery but can be done at any time with excellent cosmetic results.

Class IV Therapy Laser - Drug-Free Pain Control

Our clinic also offers Class IV Therapy Laser treatments for various conditions, including chronic arthritis, feline lower urinary tract disease, post-operative pain management, back injuries, lick granulomas, ear infections, and hot spots. These treatments promote wound healing, reduce pain and inflammation, kill bacteria, and decrease swelling. They are backed by multiple clinical studies and cleared by the FDA.

While laser therapy may not eliminate the need for medications, it can decrease the need for pain medications, especially in pets with chronic arthritis. The treatments take between 5 and 30 minutes and are painless. If you're interested in learning more about how laser technology can benefit your pet, please don't hesitate to ask our healthcare team for a treatment plan at your next appointment. Alternatively, you can schedule a consultation with us today. We are dedicated to providing the best possible care for your furry friend.
